Velcon Filters, LLC Completes Acquisition of Chemflo

Colorado Springs, CO (November 30, 2009)
Velcon Filters, LLC (Velcon), a portfolio company of The Sterling Group, L.P., today announced that it has completed the acquisition of Chemflo, a division of Process Filtration, LLC.
Chemflo, headquartered in Houston, TX was founded in 1998 by Clay Cravens. Chemflo specializes in the manufacturing of high capacity filters and coalescers for petrochemical producers, refineries, pipeline companies, natural gas processors, the food and beverage industry and many other process industries. Chemflo works as a partner with leading companies worldwide to improve their process margins by improving filtration and separations.
Clay Cravens states that “the combination of the two companies joins together great people, innovation and quality. For Chemflo’s customers, we achieve all of our internal goals to grow our value including vessel and systems fabrication, improved brand awareness, ISO 9001 and internal systems to continue to optimize products to meet customer needs”.
Velcon, headquartered in Colorado Springs, CO, is a niche manufacturer of filtration systems, including vessels and replacement cartridges that meet specific requirements for fluid filtration processes in a variety of domestic and international end-markets. Velcon is a global leader in the filtration process for jet fuel delivery, manufacturing products that filter, purify and remove water from jet fuel along the transport chain from the refinery to the aircraft. End users of Velcon’s products primarily include airports, contracted fuel providers, FBO operators, militaries, pipeline operators and to a lesser extent commercial and industrial diesel consumers, refineries and utilities.
“The Velcon team believes this partnership will provide significant opportunities to further develop and expand the company’s reach, and to continue to provide excellent customer service.” said David Taylor, President and CEO of Velcon.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Velcon Filters, LLC announces new trademark for FDPM®

-----------------------------------------------

Colorado Springs, COOctober 26, 2009

Velcon Filters, LLC today announces the Notice of Acceptance of US Trademark for “FDPM” (Flow Differential Pressure Module), thus making "FDPM" a registered trademark of Velcon Filters, LLC.

FDPM® is a computerized system designed to calculate the corrected differential pressure (DP) (corrected for flow and change-out DP) of a fuel filter vessel and determine if the filtering media inside has surpassed its useful life. The FDPM® system was developed mainly for use in the jet fuel and aviation industry. Newly revised Air Transport Association (ATA) specification ATA 103 “Standards for Jet Fuel Quality Control at Airports” requires monthly corrected differential pressure checks as part of a fuel facility’s quality control program.

The differential pressure (DP) across a filtration system indicates the condition of the filter cartridges inside the vessel. When DP rises above a certain threshold the cartridges need to be changed because they have reached their dirt and water holding capacity. If the fuel is being pumped at lower flow rates than the vessel’s maximum flow rate, a correction must be made for measuring the DP across the system.  Therefore when a fuel facility operates its systems at lowered flow rates they must calculate the corrected differential pressure.

Velcon’s FDPM® is an excellent solution to this problem. In addition to calculating the corrected DP across the filter vessel, the FDPM® system is capable of initiating an alarm sequence, which can also transmit a shutdown signal to a deadman circuit to halt the flow of fuel, when the corrected DP exceeds a preset threshold.

Velcon’s FDPM® takes the guesswork out of calculating the corrected differential pressure, as well as stopping the flow of fuel when filters approach changeout limits.

Mission statement: Velcon is committed to being the world’s preferred company for the expert solutions we deliver to our customers.
