On-Line Oil Filtration
For Load Tap Changer Compartments
The TP5E is designed for permanent mounting on load tap changers to remove carbon and other contaminants from insulating oil, without interrupting service. This unit helps prevent premature tap changer failure by keeping the dielectric strength of the oil high.

APPLICATIONS
The Velcon TP5E is recommended for installation on tap changers that:
- Perform a high number of operations
- Exhibit consistent sludging conditions
- Have a high tap-to-tap voltage difference
- Require frequent attention
FEATURES
The TP5E is a basic pump, motor, and filter system. The user must supply motor control components of their choice to complete the system.
- Unit comes equipped with drain valve and a filter vessel air vent
- Factory installed drip pan to capture oil during cartridge changeout
- Built-in pressure relief bypass on pump protects filter cartridge from over pressurization when filter is plugged
- All components are factory mounted on a 1/8” steel backpanel with a rain shield to protect motor
SPECIFICATIONS
Mechanical
Flow Rate:
5 gallons per minute.
Pump:
Heavy duty self-priming positive displacement pump with built in pressure relief valve.
Piping:
Stainless steel tubing, JIC hydraulic fittings.
External connections are 1/2” female NPT.
Filter Vessel:
Velcon model VF-71E with manual vent and static pressure gauge is epoxy coated internally and externally. No tools required for filter changeout.
Filter:
Velcon model FO-718PL1/2 comes installed for removal of carbon contamination. (AC-7181/2 free water removing Aquacon®filter cartridge available at no additional charge. SD-718P3 Superdri® dissolved water removing filter cartridge also available.)
